As with all new recipes, we can not try seafood. Thus, it may be months and many issues of Fine Cooking before I find something I can try out. As you know, Wifey detests seafood. I think it's a mental bias introduced by her staunchly anti-seafood raised-in-the-midWest mother (I've got her phone number if you want to call her up and give her a piece of your seafood loving mind).Anyhoo.
This month's magazine had some interesting things I'm going to try next week. I'm being aggressive, and I've identified 4 new recipes to try. This probably means I'll end up making 3 of them. This first one I've seen on various TV shows (c'mon many of these recipes are just slight twists of very basic concepts). But now I've got it down on paper, we're going to give it a shot. As Wifey said, "Basically, you're going to hand-make your own fajitas."
Yup!
And then of course, pork rules in our house since Wifey grew up in hog country.
And then how can you fail with meatballs? Well, yeah you can if it turns out nasty. Won't know until we try!
And I'd hope that I can make something decent out of this. The current recipe I have for Tandoori chicken is sorta blah. Nothing that makes me think I'm back at an India buffet line. This one seems to have more spices then the recipe I've been using (and by the way, the old recipe is too blah for me even create a blog entry).
We'll see what we'll see.

I take that mag. I was thumbing through it yesterday. I think I'm going to make those fajitas too. I also like Eating Well, a nutrition and cooking magazine. It tends more towards the healthy side, but still fun and interesting recipes.
I thought that trifle recipe looked decadant. And I thought of you when I was reading it (!!!) because there is a section on how to peel lychees.
A great cookbook magazine is taste of home & not all midwest peeps are anti-seafood... just sayin
Have you read Cooks Illustrated? They walk the reader through the science of how they improved the recipe. All the recipes I've tried have been great. And it's thin.
They tackled Tandoori Chicken in the last issue.
I'm also a seafood-loving, from a town a speck of a town, raised on a farm, mid-westerner.
Ohhhh, making fresh Feta? I have to find me that magazine...
My husband is the true cook in our house... he loves Cooks Illustrated and buys cookbooks ad nauseum.
